Police arrest two for stealing journalist’s car

Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked an Akure-based journalist, Mrs. Adeola Adekunle, and stole her car at gunpoint.

The suspects, Emeka Alieze and Dada Ojo, allegedly robbed the journalist of her car on September 9, 2016, at the High School area of Akure. However, the car was recovered by the men of the state police command in a bush along Akure/Owo Expressway on Tuesday.

It was gathered that men of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad of the command arrested the suspected robbers. A police source said the suspects had confessed to the crime.

“It was through their confession that we were able to find the stolen vehicle where it was parked in the bush,” the police source said.

The source added that the third suspect, who also participated in the crime escaped as he was about to be arrested by the police.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed to our correspondent that the suspected robbers were in police custody.

“The hoodlums parked the car in the bush, removed the number plates and looked for a buyer. From our investigation, we discovered that they had also used the same car to carry out another robbery at one filling station within Akure town.

“We have commenced investigation into the matter and we are sure that other members of the gang would soon be arrested,” the police spokesman said.
