The police have arrested a 46-year-old man, Chinedu Onyema, for allegedly stealing electronics equipment from a Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC) branch in Ejigbo, Lagos.
The police said last Wednesday that at about 9:35am a DLBC member, Mr Goodluck Omojoye, made a complaint at a police station that his church was broken into at night by unknown persons.
Omojoye listed the items carted away as 42-inch LG Plasma TV, one 14-inch Bluegate Plasma TV, one mixer and one DVD player, whose value was unknown.
The suspect and others at large were also accused of burgling a woman’s store on the same day.
The police said the victim, Omowunmi Osayomi, complained that her house was visited at 2:35am by three men who carted away her HP laptop, two Samsung 84 phones, a HTC smartphone, one iPhone, a 14-inch Samsung TV and other valuables.
Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO) Dolapo Badmus, a Superintendent (SP), who confirmed the robbery, said an investigation was ordered based on the strength of the report.
She said: “Surveillance teams were deployed to comb the area. Consequently one Chinedu Onyema, 46, was arrested on transit with the loot.
“He has confessed to the crime and is helping in the ongoing investigation. Efforts are also on to apprehend the other fleeing suspects.”
