Suspected armed robbers have killed a farmer, identified as Mathias Abah, taking away his motorcycle.
The incident, which happened on Saturday in Oda town, in the Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, has reportedly thrown the community into mourning.
According to a source, the 50-year-old farmer, who was said to have two wives and 12 children, was killed at about 7.30am on the day as he was returning to his Isagba farm from Oda.
The brother of the deceased, Mr. Friday Bernard, said the late framer was attacked by the robbers as he was returning from Oda town, where he had dropped his daughter, Esther, who wemt to sit for the common entrance examination at Ogbe High School, Oda, for admission into secondary schools in the state.
It was gathered that the remains of the farmer had been deposited at a mortuary by policemen from the Ala Police Division.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying the command had commenced investigation into the robbery.
“The hoodlums would soon be arrested,” Joseph added.
