A 51-year-old man identified as a tout allegedly committed suicide on Monday morning when his desired candidate lost in a decisive electoral process.
The incident happened in Leshau Trading Centre in Nyandarua County, Kenya, as Governor Joshua Irungu lost in the general election.
Reports say David Mugambi Mathenge, who was a tout in Nyahururu Town, was found hanging from the ceiling of his house.
Mugambi reportedly left behind a suicide note stating that he decided to take his own life after Irungu, who was his preferred candidate, lost in the Laikipia governor’s race.
This came a few days after an electoral presiding officer committed suicide over the weekend, reports said.
