A salesman, Abraham Oluwafemi, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing drinks valued at N3.3m belonging to his employer, Grace Network Nigeria Limited.
The accused was alleged to have sold 45 cartons of drinks and diverted the proceeds into a private account.
He was arraigned on two counts of stealing and conversion of goods.
The charges read, “That you, Abraham Oluwafemi, on May 11, 2018, at about 3.30pm, on Apogbon Issa Williams Street, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal 45 different stocks of drinks valued at N3,343,390, property of His Grace Network Nigeria Limited.
“That you, Abraham Oluwafemi, did dishonestly convert the sum of N3,343,390, to your own benefit, property of His Grace Network Nigeria Limited.”
The police prosecutor, Friday Mameh, said the offences were punishable under sections 411 and 287 (4) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.
The magistrate, K.S. Abdusalam, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties each in like sum.
