Traders at Oyugis market witnessed a free wrestling contest on Tuesday morning after two men fought over a woman.
Witnesses said Edwin Otieno, attacked his nephew, Alphonce Omondi, when he busted him with Norah Akinyi, a woman, he has been seducing.
“Otieno busted Akinyi with Omondi in a hotel, after which he picked a quarrel with Omondi beating him, and accusing him of snatching the woman he loves dearly,” said Peris Ondieki.
Reports indicate that it took the intervention of county askaris who were on patrol to calm down the two relatives.
Patrick Opiyo, a county askari said the uncle could have killed his nephew if they did not intervene.
“The uncle attacked his nephew with kicks and blows while customers who were at the hotel fled for safety. We rescued Omondi, and warned him against seeing the woman who is not of his age,” he said.
Area assistant chief, Bernard Okoth, warned residents against fights noting that they risk being arrested and charged over assault.
He urged young people in the area to stop seducing women who are older than them.
