Woman lavishes N.4m on Xmas gifts for dogs, less on boyfriend

A woman has admitted spending £1,250 on presents for her dogs this Christmas — more than her own boyfriend.

According to The Mirror, Vikki Jose, 26, spoils her ‘furry babies’, four-year-old Labrador, Harvey; and two-year-old Bichon Frise, Lola, during the festive season.

The pampered pooches even have their own Christmas wish list for Santa, as well as personalised stockings and advent calendars with doggy treats inside.

Barking-mad owner, Vikki, of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, has spent over £10,000 on her beloved dogs over the last four years.

And she happily admits to spending more on her mutts than her boyfriend of three years, Jack Cassidy, 26, a car body painter.

The healthcare assistant says: “My friends and family think I’m mad when it comes to my dogs. But I don’t see them as dogs, I see them as humans stuck in dogs’ bodies.

“To me, they are my children and the most special thing in my life. At the end of the month, if I have £100 left, I’ll go out and buy them loads of toys. They give me so much unconditional love and there’s no feeling like it.”

Vikki, who lives at home with mum Amanda Jose, 50, a kitchen assistant and dad Ian, 54, a construction worker, starts stocking up on Christmas gifts for her pooches in September.

Incredibly, Vikki has splashed £1,250 on festive gifts for Harvey and Lola, compared to £700 on her boyfriend.

This year she has bought 100 presents for her dogs, including dozens of soft toys, clothes, blankets, cushions, treats, new collars and leads.

Vikki says: “People might say that spoiling my dogs this much is excessive, but I think it’s fine.

“Seeing their faces light up when I give them a new toy or treat is worth every moment. People spend thousands on their children at Christmas, so why not a pet? Harvey and Lola are like my children, so I don’t see the difference.”

On Christmas morning, the cute dogs usually begin their day by opening the last window of their advent calendars and then enjoy a breakfast feast of sardines and rice.

Afterwards, the pair are presented with a mound of wrapped gifts under the tree.

While the Jose family sit down together and enjoy a hearty Christmas meal, Harvey and Lola tuck into their own mini turkey dinner with all the trimmings, followed by a special pet-friendly Christmas pudding.
