The Delta State police command has arrested a 32-year-old commercial sex worker identified as Regina Moses for allegedly stealing a 3-year-old baby in Asaba, Delta state.

The baby, Kosonye Mordi, a pupil was allegedly stolen under the nose of the parents.

But luck, however, ran out of the suspect when the police detectives acting on a tip-off swooped on her and arrested her in her attempt to escape with the baby.

The police commissioner in the state, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to DAILY POST, said “the suspect made useful statement to the police and we are keeping her in the cell for further investigation”.

For many hours, the parents of little Kosonye Mordi, a pupil in one of the private Primary Schools in Asaba were thrown into confusion and frantic search for their daughter who was kidnapped in their street, Thomas Ogazi Street, Airport View Area of Asaba, Delta State.

It was gathered that little Kosonye was riding on her bicycle, an exercise she likes embarking on after closing from school, when a lady, later disappeared with her while the mother was busy discussing with her neighbours.

The mother of Kosonye, Mrs. Theresa Mordi told DAILY POST: “I did not know when my daughter was taken away, she just took the baby away, thank God, she was caught”.

It was gathered that a search party was conducted after the suspect had stylishly disappeared along the Asaba/Benin Expressway. She was caught while waiting for a taxi to convey her out of the area.

Speaking to DAILY POST at the State Police Headquarters, the suspect said: “I only do sales as ‘pass time business’, I have only sold two kids, I sold one for N200, 000 in Onitsha, while the other one at Obosi for N300, 000, I am a commercial sex worker in Asaba, I use the sale of babies to enrich myself, police should please forgive me”.
