Residents of Bogichora in West Mugirango were left in a rude shock after a man abandoned his wife after she was chopped off one of her leg due to illness.
Locals said John Marambe, abandoned his wife, Monica Kerubo, two months after she was disc
harged from hospital.
“The couple have been living in peace since they got married 10 years ago until when Kerubo fell ill leading to amputation," said Antony Nyakwama.
Nyakwama said efforts by the residents reconcile the two have not borne fruits after the man threatened to commit suicide.
Area Chief Joseph Marube said the man rented a house meters away from his home where he is living with the new wife.
"It is very unfortunate that Marambe abandoned his wife and children to marry a new wife. All we will help the sick wife is to ensure the man doesn’t interfere with the family," he said.
