Police in Ogun hunt for human body part dealers


Following the arrest of three suspects in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State on Tuesday, who were found with two fresh human hearts, the police have said they are searching for more suspects who have possibly specialised in harvesting human body parts for rituals in the state.

The Parish Priest of Church of Assumption, Asokoro, Abuja, Rev. Fr. Anthony Ochigbo, charged with the rape of a 10-year-old parishioner has been discharged. A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, which discharged him on Tuesday also struck out the First Information Report for lack of jurisdiction.

EFCC arrests two for Internet romance scam


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office, Oyo State, said on Friday that it had arrested two suspects, Egbedayo Semilore and Elijah Jeremiah, over Internet fraud.

One of the suspects, Semilore (26), allegedly lured unsuspecting women into Internet romance with the intent to defraud them of large sums of money. He targeted victims who live abroad mostly.

On Wednesday, the arm of the law caught up with an okada rider identified simply as Daniel in Otukpo, Benue State, after he allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in his room on Ogiri Okoh Street, to a point where the girl became unconscious.

An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State, has sentenced one Patience Reveth to one year imprisonment for flogging her neighbour.

The trial magistrate, Mrs. RacheaI Ogbevoen, convicted Reveth, after finding her guilty of the charge filed against her.

Court grants prophet N500, 000 bail for chaining step-son


An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court has admitted a 50-year-old prophet, Emmanuel Adeyemi, to bail in the sum of N500, 000 for allegedly chaining his step-son and burying four corpses in his residence.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, who granted the bail on Friday, ordered the accused to produce two sureties in like sum.

Alfa butchers 25-year-old, dumps his parts on expressway


The Osun State Police Command has arrested an Islamic cleric, Kabir Ibrahim, for allegedly butchering a 25-year-old farmer, Lukman Adeleke, and dumping his remains along the Akure-Ilesa Expressway.

The police said the cleric wanted to use his victim’s hand for a money making ritual for another man. They are now both in police custody in Osogbo.

NDLEA seizes N6m cannabis in Kogi


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has said it intercepted a vehicle and 35 sacks of Cannabis Sativa otherwise known as Indian hemp, weighing 1,244.4 kilogrammes in Kogi.

Commander of the agency in the state, Alhaji Idris Bello, said that the drug worth N6 million was confiscated on Friday in Lokoja.

Police rescue 13 kidnaped passengers in Rivers


Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Thursday rescued 13 passengers held hostage in a bush by a group of kidnappers.

The victims, who were abducted on September 5, 2016 along Ndele/Elele axis of East-West road, regained their freedom when Anti-Kidnapping Unit, who acted on a tip-off, combed the bush in the area.
